Okay, here’s your problem. You pull the direct camera away too soon so we do not see the critical folding taking place.
Be absolutely sure that we see — UP CLOSE — each critical fold.
Also, stop and show us the shape of the intermediate stages. Hold up the intermediate stage and say, “It should look like this.”

what he has made is called a preliminary base or square base. A bird base is made from a preliminary base as is the frog base. There is no flower base.
