Q&A: Where to get large sized (20 by 20 in. or 50 by 50 cm) Origami Foil Paper?
Question by Joey M: Where to get large sized (20 by 20 in. or 50 by 50 cm) Origami Foil Paper?
I’m trying to fold Kamiya Satoshi’s Bahamut, and it recommends 50 by 50 cm (20 by 20 in.) sized paper, and I wanted to make it out of black foil paper, but I can’t seem to find any place that will sell that sized paper, much less foil paper. (there’s only one place within my county I know of that sells origami foil paper)
I can already tell I’m most likely going to have to buy it online, but I still can’t find any place. Does anyone know where I could buy such sized paper, preferably double-sided black foil paper? (not just foil, there’s a big difference)

OrigamiUSA sells sheets around that size. I think it was 25in x 25in. However, they dont sell it online. I believe you have to either go to one of thier offices / clubs or to a convention (theres one early Nov in San Fran.) But these go especially fast. I also remember at a convention in Kyushu, I was able to buy packets, 38cm x 47cm, at a fairly good price, which are decent size for Bahamut and Ancient Dragon (I wouldnt go smaller than that), but again, i dont know where they got them.
Or you can make some yourself, as Lang suggests:

Or you could get some hand made paper (thinner the better, and size them together with konyaku, starch paste, or methycellulose. And then wet fold using the sizing. You can go single thickness, and have seems, or stagger two layers, each layer edge to edge, to avoid a seem.
